Everyday essentials: Water resistant bags and jotters

June 9, 2022 by admin Leave a Comment

So, this is the first of a few posts I will be sharing based on my day at the Outdoor Trade Show in Liverpool, UK, this past week.

I started by talking to the industry to find out what stuff is out there that could be useful for those of us looking to get better prepared for some of life’s every day challenges – without the need to rely on military gear.

My first stop of my visit was to the Contact Left stand.  What I found fascinating is some of these stands were marketing companies for a few different brands, so you got a bigger bang for your buck.

The great thing with Contact Left is that guys I spoke to understood prepping and were ex-military, so it was an easy conversation. I am going to share two of their products that I think everyone should have:

Waterproof Modestone Paper Jotter

The waterproof Modestone paper jotter was given to me a free sample and it is amazing stuff.  I recently bought a few small Rite in the Rain books, but the Modestone paper jotter to me is much more robust and seems much more water resistant.

They have a whole range of different notebooks and jotters that keep your records safe and secure.

Modestone waterproof paper is resistant to dirt, snow, mud, oil, and wear and tear.

See the range here:

Hermetic Waterproof Bags

The second set of items is the Fidlock range of Hermetic waterproof bags.  The one I really like is the Fidlock HERMETIC sling bag:

This can hold a large number of items and can be tucked inside your jacket and worn, crossbody or around the hips. It is great when swimming or doing adventure sports – or simply to always keep your essentials safe, secure and close to your body.

The automatic sealing closure is 100% tight and you can operate the magnetic belt buckle with one hand.

Going for a swim at the beach?

You don’t have to try and hide your stuff under your beach towel on the beach and keep checking on your items while trying to enjoy a swim.  The Fidlock HERMETIC sling bag waterproof to a depth of 30 metres, so more than adequate for keeping important documentation dry and safe.

Protect your ‘phone, documents and other essentials in heavy rain and during water crossings

Ideal worn crossbody under your jacket for water crossings and for keeping stuff dry if you get stuck out in heavy rain.

Are you a prepper, bushcrafter or do you live in a flood risk area?

Then the Fidlock HERMETIC sling bag is an essential.
